Gps is for navigation and then there is for navigation and then there is gprs which is wireless connection you can connect to wifi hotspots or other peoples computers some though reqire permission gps is gprs which is.

Gps gives you things like turnbyturn directions and local points of interest similar to garmin or tomtom device for using the gps gives you things like turnbyturn.
