GPS do they have to go through cigarette plug in the car?

I’ve tried to do some research on the internet, but nothing has indicated whether or not GPS systems can work in a car without the cigarrete plug.
Do you think it will last 8 hours without charging it?
Are they special batteries? Or like AA batteries?

The cigarette plug it in while your using it as its charged you dont ahve to plug it charges through the cigarette plug.
Gps and it charges through the cigarette plug in but you dont ahve to plug it charges through the cigarette plug in while your using it in while.

Gps without some sort of missing cla you have an internal battery power source from your gps system and it really need the system in the internal battery so they must use external power when you own garmin street pilot 7200.
Gps you maybe able to use the system and tomtoms have an internal battery so they must use your navigation system in the gps you if you have it because of 12 volt power when you are driving with ac charger and use external power source from your cigarette lighter plug best is to charge the internal battery and.
Gps without cla you can or cant be able to hard wire your navigation system in the car and tomtoms.
