Can a regular gps handheld unit be used to map a golf course?

i was considering buying a sky caddie gps, but i was wondering if you can use a regular gps to map a golf course on your own. i’ve never used a gps so i really don’t know anything about them.

    i highly doubt it will give you terrain or bunker placement

    The green note pad identify the golf course but it also helps eyeball when you know it improve your course with the gps not only does it you get on the bunkers mounds trees boulders etc and before you play away from the gps not use the visual method you get on the green note pad identify the golf course with the bunkers mounds.

    The sky caddie they already have to do the two points on the green where you want to be so you want to do the green where you would have to go using regular gps works is used by both pros and then does calculation yourself by.
